The Perfect Pair: Playful Glossy Pink Lips

Hi everybody! How is your day going? Today we have the second post of The Perfect Pair. It features two NYX products that I bought recently and that I'm currently loving.
The NYX Butter Gloss in Strawberry Parfait and the Lipliner Pencil in Pale Pink work together to create the most beautifully innocent playful pink lips.
The gloss is more to the cool toned where as the liner is the cool/neutral toned. And together they make the lips look perfectly pink and glossy. They gloss just melts on top of the liner and gives a lovely creme finish and it really brightens up the face. It's youthful and fresh; perfect English Rose look.
Thanks for reading! Have a nice day and leave me your thoughts!
Until we blog again, P

NYX Lipliner Pencil: Pale Pink

Good Morn/Aftie/Evening, I hope you're doing fabulous! I'm really just lazing about today and watching some Walking Dead episodes. So good. Norman Reedus is too beautiful to be in a zombie apocalypse. Today I have a lipliner from NYX.
I was in the store trying to guesstimate what colour would be a good match for my natural lips. I ended up getting two shades: the Pale Pink and the Peekaboo Neutral. The first shade is the one we're talking about today. It doesn't match me but it provides a wonderful natural highlight to my lips; I can place this on the centre of my lips and blend it out for a more fuller looking lip.  It's this lovely pinky beige with almost lilac undertones. It sharpens ever so beautifully with my faithful Essence sharpener (which you should totally buy since it's a clear dupe for the UD Grindhouse). The texture is very workable but not so creamy that I feel it's going to slide off me. It provides a very solid, almost tacky base for a lips…

Velvet Nails ft. Essence Effect Nails Velvet

Hi everyone! Missed you all.
A while back I mentioned that I had bought flocking powder from Essence. Here is kind of an update when I used it for the first time.
It wasn't the best I'll admit but it was a good stab at things. I let one coat of base colour dry and on the second go I sifted the powder onto my nails. I used a fan brush to clean off the excess powder. I do like the look of it and the texture reminds me of fur on short hair cats (oddly specific huh?).
For my first time I thought it was pretty long time going. The sieve in the Essence jar slowed the process. I suppose it was to prevent you making such a big furry mess but it still happened anyways. One mistake I made was not pressing the powder firmly on my nails and that's why you can see bald patches. And the other was not taking the sieve cap off the jar.  I'll definitely try it again, it is a fun look. It only lasts 3 days on me though (until it started to look unpresentable). I like the powder and espe…

NYX Butter Gloss: Strawberry Parfait

You have no idea how excited I am. No idea! I finally found a NYX stand! NYX launched in Ireland this June. (As I was doing my Leaving Cert. How unfair!) and they are not available in City Centre, Dublin. As far as I know you'd have to go to Santry or Blanchardstown Shopping Centre. There isn't even one stand in each county which is ridiculous. But I have no doubts that NYX will roll out in more places due to popularity.
I went to Bradley's Pharmacy in Blanchardstown. I spent about 10 minutes staring at the stand. It was beautiful. I ended up getting 2 Butter Glosses and 2 of their Lipliner pencils. The usual suspects were swiped away: this includes the Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk, Round Lipstick in Tea Rose, the setting sprays, the primers and certain colours of the Butter Glosses (ahem Tiramisu and Creme Brulee).
It's packaged quite cute; all the other tubes' handles co-ordinate with the shade so that's handy as well. For some reason this shade is the only one …

Belle of the Ball vs. Disturbia

Hello everyone, how are you? Today I have a nail polish comparison that I mentioned a while back. It's taken me longer to get to this since we moved and like an idiot, while the works (that would take up to 3 weeks) were in place I decided to move my nail polishes in. So I've only had clear nail polish to bide me for a while.
Today it is Sally Hansen's Bell of the Ball (BOtB) vs. Wet'n'Wild's Disturbia.
As you can see (if you can see, I need to replace this camera as soon as I get a job), both colours have the same undertones but BOtB has stronger shimmer whereas Disturbia could be mistaken for a creme polish as the shimmer is veined very delicately. The formula for BOtB is thick but not too thick, yet Disturbia is slightly thinner. BOtB, however is almost opaque in one coat. This photo shows two coats for each. The brushes are quite similar, one of those wide brushes that always leaves a mess on my pinkies. However, Disturbia's brush was very badly cut wh…

IsaDora Graffiti Nail Topcoat: All City Brown

Hi, good morning, afternoon, evening, wherever you care. I bought the IsaDora Graffiti Nail Topcoat (gasp, pant, wheeze) when I saw a stand that had 70% off everything. It originally costed €7.95 and I got it for €2.
I chose to put it over Barry M's Matte Nail Paint in Rhossili because I thought the look of matte on matte would look cool. It's a neutral brown crackle polish that could easily be mistaken for black from afar.

The formula is very thin which is why there are more vertical crackles. I'm more partial to the thicker formula which gives more chunky crackles. But I always think it's easier to have thin nail polish that will thicken up over time. The crackles formed very quick (within 5 seconds of it going on dry polish) so you don't worry about denting the polish while waiting for it to dry. That's probably due to the thinner formula.  Something I have noticed is that the longer you have the crackle effect the more it wears. By that I mean the crackles b…

The Perfect Pair: Deep Plum Lips

Hey everyone! Bit of a long rant and flashback before we get to the nitty gritty.

The other day I was at the local chemist and I saw that Essence and Catrice were doing 50% off on some of their make up. I thought wow, that almost never happens. I later found out that some products are being discontinued to make way for even more products. Here is a video I found detailing what products might be nice to try before it goes. I love Siobhán (gotta love Irish bloggers) and I love reading her blog so head on over to when you have the chance. Her YouTube channel is also class, it's one of the reasons I bothered to go out and get the Revlon Colorstay foundation.
Anywho, I found out that Catrice was going to discontinue some lip products in August 2014; among those is a highly loved lipliner. *Flashback* As soon as I saw Kyle Jenner's photo on Instagram with her blue hair and those deep plum lips I went out to find a lipstick or liner that would look just as vampy. L…

Barry M Matte Nail Paint: Rhossili

Hi everyone! Hope you're keeping well! Today I have for you one of Barry M's recent nail polish release. They've put out more matte colours on top of the neutral tones they released a while back. I was very excited when I saw them and I got Rhossili. They're all named after different cities and I think this one is named after a village in Wales. Or Rhossili Bay?
As you can see it's a fuchsia pink(almost magenta) with a satin finish. It's more deeper and slightly muted in real life but purples are notoriously hard to capture. Not quite matte but definitely not glossy. I like the finish quite a bit because it's not too flat and you could work with it either way: you could add a gloss top coat or make it a true matte with a matte top coat.
The formula is on the thicker side, but it glides on very well. It dries reasonably quick within 15 mins from application. Not solid dry but get-on-about-your-business-without-worrying dry. Oh and this costs €5.99 at the loc…

Catrice: All Round Concealer Palette Review and Swatches

G'day everyone, I hope everything is going along well. I'm in the middle of my exams and its going well. Today I have for you the Catrice All Round Concealer Palette. I'd been on the fence about buying it, since it just seemed a bit to gimmicky and my foundation seemed to cover up most of my flaw(less imperfections). But then I caved... badly.
It just looked too good and so I forked over €3.99 to buy it. Sure why not?! Up next are the swatches.

Nivea Daily Essentials BB Cream 5in1 Beautifying(!) Moisturiser Review and Swatch

Firstly, I am having a great day today; I hope you are too! And secondly, what a name! I simply hate long winded product names. But here it is, the Nivea Daily Essentials BB Cream 5in1 Beautifying Moisturiser in Light. *gasp, pant, wheeze*

As you can see, it promises to even, cover, illuminate, blah blah, your skin. Let me just say this was an impulse buy in the local chemist after my moisturizer ran out. I shelled out €8.49 for it and was really excited because it was my first BB Cream. It's not a BB Cream, it's a glorified moisturizer. Whose head is full of hot air. Right off the bat I must warn you not to buy this if you are fair skin toned. It works for tanned skin and wouldn't be suited to the fairly light Irish complexion. Unless you'd like the Oompa Loompa effect. It's really warm/orange toned. I can't imagine any light beauties using this.
See? It sheers out to give an almost fake tan result on me. If this is light then I'm lighter than light. I can…

Sleek i-Divine Palette- Bad Girl Swatches *Pic Heavy*

Hello everyone! I hope you're keeping well, I'm super excited today because I have....
Yay!! My own Sleek palette. I had ordered this off of and collected it in store. I had seen swatches of this palette online and I knew I had to have it. Weirdly enough, this palette retails for nearly half the price of the other Sleek palettes at €5.49 (online only perhaps?). Steal!
As you can see in the pic above that the palette is very....compact (resist the urge to say sleek!!). And on the back it has the palette name. I like it; the logo is unobtrusive and minimalistic. It's also designed very well. The closure is very strong (guess who struggled to open it?) yet the palette is very light and I imagine it would be very easy to travel with this. With that being said I thought I had lost it when in fact it was just standing up against the side of my drawer and I didn't notice it. D'oh!
I really wanted the photos to be without flash in natural lighting but since this …

Barry M Matte Nail Paint: Mocha

Hello people! How are you today? I made pancakes today and they were yummy! Anything is yummy in the morning when you're starving. For my sister's 17th birthday I got her some nail polishes (two peas in a nail polish pod). One of them was Barry M's matte nail polish in a deep red shade and Max Factor's Fantasy Fire (enough with the Nfu-Oh 51 rip offs girl!). And of course once I saw how good it looked I went back to get one for myself. I got mine in Mocha for €5.99.
Mocha is such a unique colour that I don't have in my collection (or my sister's collection). It's a pink toned cappuccino taupe-y colour. If that made any sense. As you can see the finish isn't a true matte colour; I'd pegged it as more of a satin finish. Equally unique I think. After I applied I waited ten minutes, it wasn't getting any matter. I've yet to see a 'drugstore' nail colour in Ireland that's a true matte. But there is a wide range of matte top coats tho…

Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure: Belle of the Ball

G'day everybody! How is everyone? I've been relaxing and reading the odd book. Today I have Sally Hansen's Belle of the Ball.

Belle of the Ball is a lovely mid toned purple with red, orangey shimmer. Like I said in my last post I really do go for what I think is anything even close to Nfu-Oh 51. I got this in Boots (where I do most of my gallivanting) for €8.95. I saw it and it was the last one so I knew it must have been a sign so I bought it.
Find out what I think about the formula and for more swatches!

First Inglot Palette- Reswatch

Hi again! I felt like doing a reswatch of my Inglot palette. Temptalia style! (Although in no way am I able to pull it off but hey-ho I felt like a change). If you'd like to see the original post click here. I love Inglot; the brand has so much to offer especially when it comes to eyeshadows. I love their formula, it's comparable to M.A.C I've heard (and I stress heard because I only have one of M.A.C's eyeshadows). D'you experience fallout with M.A.C? Because I experience it with some of their eyeshadows and to be honest it doesn't bother me one bit. Some of their mattes however..... But that's a different story. Inglot has very strong offerings in their line. This is from the Freedom System. The idea being you buy individual eyeshadow refills of your choice and you buy with the palette at a reduced price. I'm sure most of you have heard of it before. No being bogged down by that mysterious purple in generic palettes that you might never use. So yeah,…

My Nail Polish Swatch 'Book'

G'day, how are you? As you know, during my time away from posting, I still kept updated with the ''Nail World''. Something that caught my eye was the idea of a swatch book. I had read a post about it but I don't remember who posted it but I do remember that I thought it was one of the most original ideas I'd ever come across. It's basically a journal that holds all your nail polish swatches. No need for nail wheels which can be pretty hard to come by. I thought 'gosh, it's so simple but I would never think of it'. And that was that, it was a niche concept and then I thought no more of it. Until a while later when I saw cutepolish and she designed a very unique swatch book; the cover was beautiful and she did a really good job of making it look fun and I felt so inspired.
But of course I don't have a gazillion nail polishes. Or even a gazillion Euro to spend on nail polishes. So my own version of a swatch book is...
Yup, that's it. On…

Wet'n'Wild Megalast Nail Colour: Disturbia

Ach! My first nail swatch after what seems like forever! How long has it been? (Over a year!) I've really missed this. At school we weren't allowed to wear nail polish; but I never fell out of love with polish! I always stalked the nail polishes when I was in Boots and I always kept up to date with the latest release that drove the blogsphere crazy (texture polishes and Sheer Tints, I'm looking at you!). So I'm glad now that school is finished to be able to enjoy doing swatches and being able to wear nail polishes and being able to wear it for more than 24 hours. Enough of the fluffy stuff and onto the nail polish!

I have Wet'n'Wild's Disturbia today from their Megalast line. In Ireland, we got Wet'n'Wild around February. I found out from And lemme tell you, I was really really, unbelievably excited. As most of us are when a new brand pops up. Of course, I perused the polish section and they had some amazing colours. Me being myself, I alw…
